Certifications

  • List of certifications(details about how to get them and how much they are)

There are many different certificates that you can get to help stand out to employers. They have choices for all different jobs like sales and marketing and social media that you can do at your own pace. The first certificate we think is best for this is Google Analytics.

The next certificate we think is important is hubspot. Hubspot has over 6 different certificates that you can get for free. They range from different kinds of marketing strategies to more specific softwares. All you have to do is complete all the lessons, pass the assessments, and then pass the certification exam.

How to highlight skills on your resume

  • Creating a “Skills” or “Certifications” section in your resume

  • Ways to describe software application experiences on your resume

Your skills section on your resume needs to stand out to recruiters so they can see how you differentiate from the other applicants. By formatting and cleaning up that section of your resume, that will put you ahead of the competition to landing that job. Highlighting your skills is a very important step to take when creating your resume, especially when adding certifications. For example, from the source Zety.com, they say that “63% of recruiters say talent shortage is their biggest problem”, meaning that people who do not have the skills set are applying to jobs. This shows that by listing your skills relevant to that job, you are already ahead of your competitors.

If you’re looking to add skills revolving around software application or certifications within the software field, you need to describe them in a certain way to attract recruiters. Use words that are more enticing to the reader. For example, phrases like “Proficient in”, “Knowledge of” and “Skilled in” will give the reader an understanding that you are professionally experienced in that field. List important skills like any coding experience in any languages, and software application experience, such as Tableau or even Microsoft applications, and be sure to list soft skills like being a leader and having problem solving. All of these steps described above will help you in creating a professional looking resume and attract recruiters across industries

Skills that recruiters are looking for

There are several soft and hard skills that recruiters are searching for in this market. These skills combined create candidates who are capable of conducting effective work in various work environments.

Soft skills are those that are essential for interpersonal success in the workplace. Although they do not directly correlate to business results, a high level of soft skills in a work environment can create more effective and productive results. These are vital skills to highlight in the job search process because they are skills that are difficult to teach and can be beneficial for long-term success. The following are a list of those:

  • Problem-solving

  • Communication

  • Adaptation

  • Leadership

  • Work ethic

  • Creativity

  • Integrity

Oppositely, but as important, hard skills are the second piece to a skillset recruiters hunt for. Hard skills are much more industry or market specific to jobs. They are more quantifiable and simpler to learn than soft skills. Hard skills in our job market include:

  • Programming languages(SQL, R, Python, etc)

  • Machine learning

  • Statistics

  • Business Intelligence

There are several resources to develop or sharpen both soft and hard skills of analytics. On LinkedIn Learning you are able to take courses that highlight processes like coding programming languages, but there are also courses that can assist in sharpening soft skills like presentation communication skills or leadership practices.
